Thriving in the Presidency Seminar
October 8–10, 2026 | Kansas City, Missouri

The Presidents’ Round Table is pleased to invite you to participate in Thriving in the Presidency, a special seminar designed specifically for community college presidents.

Held in Kansas City, Missouri, October 8–10, 2026, the seminar will take place alongside the Thomas Lakin Institute for Mentored Leadership, creating a unique opportunity for sitting presidents to engage in meaningful professional development while the Lakin Institute prepares the next generation of leaders aspiring to the presidency.

The presidency continues to evolve amid significant political, economic, technological, and institutional change. Thriving in the Presidency will provide a collegial space for presidents to step away from the day-to-day demands of leadership, examine emerging challenges, exchange strategies, and learn with and from colleagues who understand the complexities of the role.

Seminar topics will include:

Leading in Turbulent Times
Managing Boards in Today’s Political Landscape
Managing Microaggressions in the Workplace
The President as an Economic Development Leader
Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Workplace Effectiveness and Efficiency
Pearls of Wisdom from Colleagues: an open dialogue addressing issues presidents are navigating in real time

Participants will also have opportunities to engage with Lakin Fellows and NCBAA LDI participants, attend the Presidents’ Social and an evening of Kansas City jazz, and participate in additional networking and fellowship experiences throughout the seminar.
